Client
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust
Overview
On mental health awareness week 2025, it’s very fitting we are able to talk about a fab project we have been working on for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
What did the client need?
We were approached to rework some mental health booklets for primary and secondary aged students and their parent/carers. They needed to be fun, engaging and as clear as possible for the team to be able to use during in person workshops or online. They also needed to fit into NHS branding in colours and fonts.
The booklets cover topics such as managing your emotions, managing anger, anxiety and exam stress and they needed to be in the style used by Mersey Care use for services provided for children and young people that we also did last year.
What did we do?
Working closely with Mersey Care, we used the existing cartoon style character and we were able to modify to show different types of young people of different ages over all the booklets, and we chose a different colour from the NHS palette for each document. We made sure the layouts were simple and the activities laid out clearly and logically so the booklets were as easy to use as possible and not overwhelming.
Feedback
The Mental Health Support Teams in schools focus tested the booklets with students and parents/carers and they were well received with lots of positive feedback which is always great to hear. Even better they have been launched on the Mersey Care website and launched by NHS England country wide.
You can read more about the work Mersey Care is doing for Mental Health services, not just this week, but 365 days a year here.
Final thoughts
We have had the honour of working extensively with Mersey Care (and other NHS organisations) for more than 15 years on a variety of work, from patient leaflets, or campaigns, to annual reports or big posters for walk-in centres.
We love jobs like this one. It’s creative and fun for Sarah, but importantly it’s impactful for young people.
